Turn your Hawaii car into weekly income

If you own a vehicle that sits idle most of the week, ReefRide turns it into recurring cash. List in 10 minutes, set your own price, get paid weekly. You stay in control — we handle bookings, payments, insurance, and disputes.

Listing, step by step

  1. 1
    Sign up + verify
Create your host account with Apple, Google, or email. Verify your driver's license through Stripe Identity (90 seconds). One-time only.
  2. 2
    Add your car
Year, make, model, license plate, VIN. We pre-fill safety + spec data from the catalog. Upload at least 4 exterior + 2 interior photos so the listing card looks complete.
  3. 3
    Pick your protection plan
Three options: Max-Earn (90% take, you carry insurance), Balanced (80% take, ReefRide insurance + standard deductible), Max-Protect (70% take, ReefRide insurance + low deductible + dispute support). Switchable anytime.
  4. 4
    Set your price + availability
Daily rate, weekend uplift, monthly minimums. Block out dates you need the car. Pricing recommendations from the platform suggest a competitive starting point based on your make + model + island.
  5. 5
    Submit for approval
Admin reviews the listing — usually within 24h. You get an email when approved. Listings hit the marketplace immediately after.
  6. 6
    Take bookings
Choose Instant Book (auto-confirm bookings that pass our risk checks) or Manual Approval (24h to approve / decline each request). Either way, you see every guest's verified license + rating before they pick up.
  7. 7
    Hand off the car
Default is lockbox: drop the keys in, code auto-shares to the guest 1h before pickup. Or set up custom delivery zones (hotel / Airbnb / airport) and charge per-mile delivery fees. ReefRide Pros can also handle delivery for you on demand.
  8. 8
    Get paid
Weekly payouts via Stripe Connect, every Tuesday for the prior week's completed trips. Earnings dashboard shows trip-by-trip net + your monthly trend.

What you get

  • Full insurance coverage on every trip — guest and host both protected.
  • OBD-II telematics on every car for safety, mileage tracking, and dispute resolution.
  • Lockbox or self-managed handoff — your call. Or hand off to a ReefRide Pro for an extra fee.
  • Promo codes you can mint per car — drop a discount on a slow week to fill the calendar.
  • Calendar sync to Google / Apple / Outlook so trips appear alongside your other appointments.
  • Real-time messaging with guests, push-notified directly to your iOS app.
  • Pricing recommendations + dynamic pricing nudges based on local demand.
  • Refer-a-host program: $150 cash when a friend you refer gets their first paid booking.

Money

ReefRide's take depends on the protection plan you pick: 30% on Max-Protect, 20% on Balanced, 10% on Max-Earn. The take covers the guest-side platform fee, payment processing, and insurance on most plans.

Payouts run weekly. Your dashboard shows each trip's gross, take, taxes, and net side-by-side. Year-end 1099-K is generated automatically when you cross the IRS reporting threshold.

A typical Maui SUV listed at $95/day on the Balanced plan with 18 booked days a month nets the host roughly $1,370/month after take + Hawaii GE tax. Mileage and your maintenance overhead are on you; protection-plan claims aren't.

Frequently asked

What if a guest damages my car?

Report damage in the app within 24h of drop-off. ReefRide opens an incident, runs the claim against the protection plan in place at the time of booking, and pays out per the plan's deductible structure. The guest deals with us, not you.

Can I block dates I need the car?

Yes — calendar in your dashboard. Block individual days, ranges, or recurring patterns (e.g. every Sunday). Blocked days don't appear to guests at all.

How does pickup work if I'm not local at handoff time?

Lockbox handoff is the default. The lockbox code rotates per-trip and shares to the guest 1h before pickup. You don't need to be present. If you'd prefer a Pro to deliver the car, claim a Pro-delivery handoff at listing time.

What if I want to change my price or protection plan?

Both are editable anytime from the listing detail page. Price changes apply to new bookings; existing confirmed bookings keep the rate they were booked at. Plan changes apply to bookings that haven't started yet.

Can I list more than one car?

Yes — no cap. Each listing has its own approval process + photos + price. Power hosts with 3+ cars see fleet-level dashboards and bulk pricing tools.

What about Hawaii GE / TA taxes?

ReefRide collects + remits Hawaii GE and TA taxes on every booking automatically. You see them as a line item on every payout — no separate tax filing required by you for marketplace earnings (consult your CPA for income tax).
